It seems that the application has been withdrawn - to be resubmitted late spring / early summer. My personal observation on this is that it is simply a method of wearing everyone down! Maybe the thinking is that eventually people will become so complacent or fed up with the plans being resubmitted that they will simply not take any action - whoops - another planning application gets approval !

Your thoughts are welcome

Monday 4th February 2008 . Chester-le-Street District Council Planning Committee to hold a special meeting starting at 6.30 pm at the Civic Centre to discuss Persimmon Homes’ planning application for Newfield Farm development. PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND IF THE ISSUE AFFECTS YOU!!! The level of local interest shown will influence the outcome! If you have a transport problem please put a message via the “Contact” page - we might be able to help.
Fri 25th January 2008. Durham County Council Highways Dept have not responded to our and Cllr Cordon’s requests for a public meeting. This is now unlikely to happen in view of the short time available.
Mon 7 January 2008: This was a most successful and well attended “interactive” meeting! Cllr Cordon is to ask Durham County Council Highways Dept for a similar public meeting to discuss roads and traffic aspects concerning the latest proposals from Persimmon Homes.
Sat 5 January 2008: Consultation by Chester-le-Street District Council with residents to discuss latest proposals. Time 11.30 - 3 pm. Venue: Newfield Inn (opposite Sports College)
Wed 19 December 2007 (I may have got this date and timing wrong, have to consult my last year’s diary!):
Presentation by Persimmon Homes of their revised proposals for Newfield Farm development, now further expanded to 270 houses. Venue as before: Newfield Primary School (opposite Sports College). Time: 4 - 6 pm
Mon 5 November 2007: Persimmon Homes have withdrawn their planning application for 252 houses and replaced it with a new application for 270 houses.

Why this Action Group ?

Most of us have chosen to live in this area because of the semi rural location. Its always pleasent to walk in an area that is surrounded by fields - if we had wanted otherwise we would be living in a town.
Do You Want To Lose This ??

You Cannot Afford To Do Nothing !!
You only have a few days (deadline is Christmas!) to let the council know your views on Persimmons plan to convert Newfield Farm into 252 houses> Some of us dont have the time to write letters - so we have prepared a standard letter (download here) which corresponds to the majority views based on your feedback to us. Simply print , add your address, date it and sign it. You can then drop this off at any of the mailboxes (see full list here) or you can post it to District Council.

Alternatively tou can send an email with your views to
stephenreed@chester-le-street.gov.uk
